Day Nineteen. The One with the Sandwiches

We planned for a beach day today, but one look at Jan’s still tomato red chest and his even more red knees showed it wasn’t the best of ideas in the world. We also had a LOT of blogging to catch up on, so we opted for a more chill day so that we would be perfectly ready for our flight to Paris tonight.

We only had to keep ourselves entertained while the other did their fair share of the blogging and formatting and such, which resulted in a little playing around with Nastassia’s camera, and a little bit of playing 2048. We also want to show you (whoever our one or two dedicated readers are), how pretty and calm our view from our balcony down the street is. A really quiet neighborhood with virtually no tourists, and almost no idiots revving their motorcycles or cars at random hours.

We also had the super difficult task of eating up the remnants of the fridge today – which meant sandwiches and beer. Not exactly a punishment! A good way to unwind before handling the stresses of packing and airports. Packing always seems like it should be so simple, because our things fit into two simple bags, and yet at every new location it seems to explode all over the place, and takes way longer than expected to get under control again.

Going to the airport went off with no problems, and we finally took a method of transport apart from biking. Our backpack with all the things we wanted to be quickly accessible was quickly fit into our two carry ons before the flight – minus only Nastassia’s copy of War and Peace. And although reading it was a great goal, and Nastassia was already 250 pages in, didn’t seem like the worst loss. It was a free copy and it was left so that maybe someone else can pick it up if they’re bored of their literature. The flight was short and quick, and our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower leaves us excited for 6 days in this magical city. Paris! We got to our apartment around midnight and found the key tucked away in a little niche where the airbnb host left it for us to hide; it took a little while to find it but luckily no one came out of their apartments to question why a Canadian and a German were running up and down the stairs.
